New revolutionary EMS research wins the VAHL- award 2020

The VAHL, Veterinary Academy of Higher Learning is an organization that operates worldwide and is committed to the continued education of veterinarians through webinars, clinics, training, etc. At the end of August, they presented the very first VAHL Awards in Cambridge for promising future research submitted to the European College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation (ECVSMR). Anna Mokry & Lisa Woord's research plan won that award. (Click here)

In 2021 the VAHL faculty of Ghent University (Belgium) will conduct a study into the impact of EMS technology (electro muscular stimulation in combination with infrared) on the muscles of sport horses. To test whether the EMS technology with infrared effect can realize muscle building they are using the Equery R6 device. The research is a collaboration between Ghent University (Dr. Maarten Oosterlinck, veterinarian Anna Mokry and student Lisa Woord) and physiotherapist-osteopath Siska Vandendriessche and veterinarian Paul Hanssens.

The study will be conducted objectively, blinded and placebo-controlled on a group of 40 to 50 sport horses, which will be examined weekly for 8 weeks. The treatment takes about an hour and is carried out for five consecutive weeks.

We will be more than happy to share with you this independent research of the Ghent University soon!
